Hello Jean,
I decided not to have it after reading some of the research papers. Husband had it and, apart from a sore arm, was fine. What kind of reaction have you had? Have you just had one?

Hi Jean,
I also decided not to have it but if you have had a reaction to the first one, I definitely would advise you to give the second one a miss.
Have you just had one so far?

Just a sore arm for me too and a slight feeling of a cold-I was given one dose by mistake when it should have been the two. I have however had a sdtinking head cold over Christmas and i don't normally get colds! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Welcome to the best forum arund from another "Jean".
I have had my first jab and had no adverse reactions except a lump on my arm. If you decide not to have the second injection, please have a word with your doctor first - you may do more harm than good by foregoing the second dose.

Had quite a sore arm for a few days, felt a bit rough the day after and developed a rash over my chest and stomach which disappeared after 24-48 hours. Waiting to see if second dose is better or worse:)

I had my first jab a couple of weeks ago, and had no reaction apart from a sore arm for about a week.

Hi sorry see you had reaction to swine flu jab,if dont have 2nd one wont be fully vaccinated so still get swinee flu. i had mild reaction arm still sore. i got 4 week beak between mine. some itching,sore,pain,swelling i shall tell gp aswell before have 2nd one. i do have alot inflamation in area jab had be done so believe my reaction is due to this being agrevated. Nurse has confimred this forme. said i can still have it and to be prepared for reaction not allergic type or she would have said carnt have it. hope making sense. if unsure seek medical advice is best. inky07 cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

I'm due to have my second jab on January 7th. Just had a slightly sore arm after my first one - although I did feel as though all my joints seemed more painful, but think that must just have been the change in the weather.

I think that we all have to make our own decisions on this one.
I studied research both for and against and decided on balance I'd rather NOT have swine flu and had the jab.
I really don't think that any of us (and I certainly include myself in this) should advise on something we really are not qualified to advise on. It could be that there hasn't been enough research, but it could also be that the vaccine is safe and works well. Whichever, I am certainly not qualified to make a scientific judgement.
I would say go with your gut feeling. If you don't want the jab, fair enough - if you do then also fair enough.
I'm not having a go at anyone here - just think we should show some balance.

hello all
First time posting for me don't seem to be many guys on here.
I am an ambulance man diagnosed with RA in 2006. currently taking MXT and started leflunamide last week as my consultant is having trouble controlling things.
I was given the swine flu jab via occupational health at the beginning of december with no adverse reaction at all.
I asked about a 2nd dose and was assured by occupational health that a second dose was not required.
I would certainly have the first one though especially after catching flu last year and ended up in hospital with a chest infection and major flare.
We all have to make our own minds up though.

Welcome! You're right there are not as many guys on here as girls! LOL
We don't vaccinate as a family and so I am not having the swine flu or any other jab.
I know it must be down to the individual's choice and what they feel is intrinsically right and for us this means no vaccines.
I hope the Llf works very well for you.

Hi Jean & Mike, a big warm welcome to the forum.
I too elected not to have the swine flu vaccine and spoke to my GP about my decision. I was told that if you were around in the 60's & 70's and exposed to the Asian flu, which I was, I most likely to be immune and would have my own resistance to the virus.
